Like most women, my weekend check-list always includes a little retail therapy. Last weekend I was on the hunt for a Tinker Bell dvd for my daughter, which started out as a relaxing "girlie" shopping day.
Retail Therapy became Retail Horror when baby girl pointed to an aisle we had just passed, excitedly screeching "Mommy Tee (tree)!!"
There it was - the invitingly festive aisle with Xmas trees, decorations, wrapping paper and singing Santa's. But before we can all start singing the Christmas jingles, we need to go shopping for the Christmas jolly's. So you draw up a list of people you are buying for and sit for the rest of the day staring at your name list and not one gift or even an idea for a gift for your listed loved ones.
Here are some ideas to help you conquer your cart quest.
Socks and underwear are easy cop-outs. Designer T's and stylish hoodies however...
While those beauty-packs with a bubble bath, hand soap and a free pair of slippers are really sweet, rather go for some seriously indulging beauty treats that would be treasured rather than tossed. While you are at it, don't forget to buy a little something just for you - for all your efforts in finding the perfect gift for others.
Handbags, travel bags, cosmetic bags - just any seriously funky bag is always a great idea.
You cant go wrong with educational toys for the tiny people. Maybe consider a timeless classic like Lego (even though it usually ends up keeping the grown-ups busy). They have some awesomely cool additions from when we were kids. http://www.lego.com/
Still stuck? Try something a little more personal. I don't mean a beer mug with "Merry Christmas Dad, From Lee-Anne" but more along the lines of personalised stationery, photo frames, golf club covers and and and...
So grab your Parker pen and get creative. Make your Christmas cart this year an exciting one.
Stay fabulous!
